I had a poster of Mont Saint-Michel on my wall when I was 15 years old, but I wouldn’t make it there until decades later. I went to France numerous times, but somehow, I always managed to skip this magical place. Well, I must say it did not disappoint and was worth the wait. Construction on this magnificent building started in 708 A.D., and it was named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979.
Mont Saint-Michel is a medieval abbey and village on a rocky tidal island in Normandy, France. I went there on a long day trip from Paris, which was tiring but doable. It’s gorgeous and requires a lot of climbing. It’s also very windy there, but I loved every minute of it. Highly recommended!
