Photo Essay: Yosemite National Park, California

I had occasion to visit Yosemite National Park in California recently. The only downside to seeing the park in fall is that it’s quite dry, which means the famous waterfalls are almost nonexistent. You have to be there during the spring to see the falls in all their glory. Still, there’s plenty to love about Yosemite year-round.

Here are some of my favorite photos.

Arizona’s Verde Canyon Railroad

While in Sedona, Arizona in July, I decided to try out the nearby Verde Canyon Railroad trip. Less than a half hour drive from Sedona and less than a 10-minute drive from Cottonwood, the train’s hacienda-style depot complex includes an outdoor bar that sells both drinks and a small menu selection of food like chicken nuggets and fries, as well as a gift shop and outdoor seating.
